Thermal balloon Endometrial ablation

Thermal balloon ablation is an endometrial operation in which a special balloon filled with hot water is used for removing the uterine lining (lining of the womb). This is performed for relieving the symptoms of heavy periods. Under local or general anesthesia, a thermal balloon is placed into the patient’s womb and the balloon is expanded with fluid. The fluid is then heated to the optimal temperature so that the fluid moves around the balloon and the heat reduces the thickness of the uterine lining.
