Telecanthus correction

Telecanthus refers to a rare anomaly condition in the palpebra (eyelid) where there is an increased distance between the medial canthi (the corners of the eye). In telecanthus correction, the medial canthal tendons are shortened and refixed to the anterior lacrimal crest, or a trans-nasal suture is inserted. Recurrence often occurs due to the loosening of the tendon, which is why this treatment is difficult. Transnasal wiring is used to achieve the highest fixation force.
