This is a surgery in which two or more vertebrae are joined into one single structure to stop movement between the two bones, thereby preventing back pain. After making an incision, the muscles and structures are moved to see the spine, and joint(s) between the damaged disks are removed. Screws, rods, bone-pieces (graft) from another body part is used to connect the disks and immobilize them. Minimally invasive techniques are also used.
