Sleeve Gastrectomy

blog

Sleeve Gastrectomy is a weight-loss surgery in which eighty percent of the stomach is removed, leaving a much smaller tube-shaped stomach (shaped like a banana). It may be done using open and large incisions, but it is generally performed laparoscopically, making small incisions in the upper abdomen. A narrow sleeve is created by stapling the stomach vertically, and the larger curved part of the stomach is reduced. The size of the stomach is reduced to limit the amount of food consumed.
