Roux- En- Y- Gastric bypass

This is a surgery for weight-loss, often performed laparoscopically, making small abdominal incisions. In this surgery, the upper stomach size is reduced to a pouch the size of an egg, by stapling the upper portion of the stomach, for reducing food intake amount. This small pouch is directly attached to the Roux limb in the small intestine, forming a “Y” shape, to bypass the rest of the stomach and upper small intestine, reducing the amount of fat and calorie absorption.
