Punch/Wedge biopsy

blog

Punch/Wedge biopsy involves acquiring tissue for diagnostic evaluation through microscopy or tissue culture. A punch biopsy involves taking a punch-size portion of the skin. This is a low-risk process and is conducted under local anaesthesia. Whereas, in a wedge biopsy, a lesion is identified at the time of a surgical procedure, and removed with a wedge of normal surrounding tissue.
