Nonstress test

A nonstress test refers to a screening test in which the status of the foetus is assessed during pregnancy by measuring the heart rate of the foetus and its responsiveness. In this noninvasive test, the health of the baby is tested using a cardiotocograph for monitoring the heart rate of the foetus and presence or absence of contractions in the uterus is recorded. The test also records the baby’s movement. The result of the test is either reactive or nonreactive.
