Mechanical Ventilation

A mechanical ventilator is a machine that enables a patient to breathe (ventilate) whilst he/she is recovering from a surgery, critical illness, or cannot breathe on their own for any reason. The patient is connected to the ventilator with a hollow tube that uses it until he/she can breathe on their own. Even though it doesn’t heal patient it allows the patient a chance to be stable while the medications and treatments help him/her. It also makes sure the patient doesn’t have to work hard to breathe, the patient’s breathing has an opportunity to become normal, he/she gets as much oxygen as needed, preserves a stable airway, and allow medications to work and lets the body do its work.
