Manchester Operation

Manchester Operation is a gynaecological surgery technique for treating uterine prolapse by means of cardinal ligament fixation. This surgery aims at decreasing the cystourethrocele (herniation of the neck of the bladder and urethra into the vagina) and the goal is to reposition the uterus within the pelvis. In this procedure, the uterine cervix is opened and a curette is used to remove uterine tissue. The cervix is amputated and strengthened by suturing the cut end of the ligament in the front of the cervix.
