Intermittent Lumbar Traction

Lumbar traction is a procedure used in physiotherapy where a stretching force is applied to the lumbar vertebrae through weights, pulleys, and/or bodyweight for distracting individual joints of the lumbar spine. In Intermittent Lumbar Traction, a mechanical unit is used to apply heavier weights for short periods of time. The mechanical unit alternately applies and releases the traction force at predetermined intervals. This procedure is used to treat patients with lower back pain.
