Foramen magnum decompression for Chiari Malformation


Structural defects in the base of the cranium and cerebellum, the part of the brain that controls balance, are known as Chiari malformations. The surgical removal of bones from the foramen magnum to widen the aperture space to relieve the intracranial pressure due to this malformation is known as foramen magnum decompression for Chiari malformation.
