Fistulogram for Arteriovenous Fistula

Fistulogram for Arteriovenous Fistula is an x-ray test used to look inside the patient’s dialysis access to look for abnormal areas in the arteriovenous fistula, such as any narrowing, blockage or abnormal enlargement, and to check for the pressure in the graft. In the procedure, a catheter (small tube) is placed in the fistula and x-ray dye is injected and radiographic images (i.e. fistulogram) of the area are taken. In the end, the catheter is removed and pressure is held over the puncture site.
