Facial Nerve Decompression

Pressure and compression caused due to infection, inflammation, surgery, trauma and tumours can render the facial nerve insensitive, resulting in both sensory and motor deficits. The aim of this decompression surgery is performed to gain access to the affected area and nerve sheath in order to release pressure. This reduces compression on the nerve fibres, improves blood circulation and minimizes damage to distal nerve fibres.
