Excision of Lipoma refers to the surgical removal of lipomas (adipose tumours often located in the subcutaneous tissues). This procedure is performed by making incisions in the skin overlying the lipoma. The fusiform excision technique is used by following the skin tension lines, and the incisions made are smaller than the underlying tumour. The doctor grasps the centre island of skin (to be excised) with a hemostat/Allis clamp for traction. Beneath the subcutaneous fat, the tumour is dissected.
