Excision of Dermoid Cysts

This is the surgical removal of dermoid cysts (sac-like growths present at birth, containing hair/fluid/teeth/skin glands found on or in the skin). In this procedure, the area over the cyst is cleaned, a local anaesthetic is injected, and an incision is made directly over the cyst, attempting to remove the cyst completely. In some cases, this surgery requires greater care if there’s a chance that the fatty content of the cyst may spread (especially if it’s infected with bacteria).
