Cystoscopic Botulinum Toxin Injection

Intravesical Botox is a procedure where an injection of Botulinum Type-A toxin is injected into the muscles of the bladder wall with the help of a flexible cystoscope inserted through the urethra and into the bladder. The toxin produced by Clostridium botulinum helps bind the nerves endings and inhibits the muscular contractions. This helps treat the over-activity of the bladder muscles. The procedure is performed where the patients have overactive bladder syndrome or have symptoms of urge incontinence and frequent urination.
