Cleft Palate Repair

This repair surgery treats cleft palate (opening in the roof of the mouth of a baby, which leaves a hole between the mouth and the nose). Palatoplasty is performed. In this procedure, under general anesthesia, the cleft is closed in layers and the muscles of the soft palate are rearranged and repaired. Two incisions are made on each side of the palate behind the gums for easing tension on palate repair.
