Cervical Facet Joint Block / Medial Branch Block

Cervical Facet Joint block, also known as Medial Branch Block, is a procedure in which an anesthetic is injected near small medial nerves that are connected to a specific facet joint. This procedure is basically a primary diagnostic used to determine if the patient has the appropriate duration of pain relief after the medial branch nerve block, if yes, then the patient may be a candidate for a subsequent procedure called radiofrequency neurotomy (or ablation) for longer-term pain relief.
