blog

Balloon Atrial septostomy involves expanding of an atrial septal defect and improving oxygenation of the blood. A thin tube is pushed along the heart’s chambers to make the hole. General anaesthesia is given before the beginning of the procedure. This procedure is conducted on children having transposition of the great arteries. This procedure helps in providing oxygen-rich blood to the child’s body.
