Arterial switch operation

Arterial switch operation is a surgery performed for the surgical correction of the disease known as Transposition of great arteries (TGA). The surgical procedure allows regular blood circulation in the baby’s body. The surgeon switched back the pulmonary artery and the aorta to their normal positions and attaches the coronary arteries to the new aorta in the correct positions closing the hole between the atria and tying off the patent ductus arteriosus. If your baby has a significant VSD, the surgeon will close it during the procedure.
